NEW ORLEANS— Service for Dorethea J. Turner, 94, who died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Tensas Nursing Home in Newellton, will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in New Orleans with the Rev. John Cisewski officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in New Orleans.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Turner was born June 18, 1913, in New Orleans, the daughter of Edward and Estelle Sullivan Jackson.
She was employed by the Orleans Parish School System for over 40 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of the T&T Bridge Club of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her son Lawrence E. Johnson.
Survivors include her children, Joy Washington and husband Clarence of New York, Beryl Wingate of Minneapolis, Minn., Patricia Kelly and husband James of Newellton, La., and Edmona Gilliano of Chicago; two sisters, Ethel Mae Bridges of Hiram, Ga., and Naomi Walker of Birmingham, Ala.; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
