Bertha Peebles

HARRISONBURG — Services for Bertha Alice Peebles, 86, of Harrisonburg, who died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Green officiating. Internment will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until todau at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Peebles was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Alva, Okla., the daughter of Charles and Bertha Green. She was a resident of Harrisonburg and a member of the Harrisonburg First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis Peebles and her son, Allen Peebles.

Survivors include sons, Robert M. Peebles and wife, Leona, both of Denver, Charles Peebles and wife Myra, both of Owasso, Okla. and Billy Carl Graham, of Austin, Texas; daughter Alice Pecanty and husband Jerry, both of Harrisonburg; sisters Elizabeth Sweeney, of Winnfield, Kan., and Ethle Poovey, of Westphalia, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Herbert Terry and L.C. Wiley.
