WOODVILLE — Funeral services for Ollie Mitt Hayes, 98, of Centreville, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Embrew Baptist Church in Woodville.

Burial will follow at the Embrew Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hayes was born Dec. 9, 1909, the daughter of Ed and Ellen Evans. She confessed Christ at an early age. She was a deaconess at Embrew Baptist Church, a graduate of Lane Hart School and retired from the Wilkinson County School District. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sidney Monroe Hayes; son Benjamin L. Groom; four grandchildren, Michael Groom, LaRuth Groom, Patricia Mealey and Larry Benjamin Groom.

Survivors include son W’Odell Mealey, of Washington, D.C.; daughter-in-law Jessie Groom, of Woodville; grandchildren Marilyn Groom and Donald Groom, both of Woodville, and Margo Mealey of Washington, D.C.; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two nieces, Stella Mae Walker, of Baton Rouge, and Reba Harrison, of Woodville; three nephews, Eddie Evans and Theodore Gaulden, of Baton Rouge, and Aaron Evans, of St. Louis, Mo.; one ex-daughter-in-law, Annie Groom, of Woodville; and a number of other relatives and friends.
