Vidalia — Services for Willie Bill January, 86, of Vidalia, who died Jan. 15, 2008, at his residence, will be at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Webb Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Mr. January was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Vidalia. He received his education at Concordia Parish Training School and worked as an interior decorator.
Mr. January served in World War II in Germany and France from 1943 to 1946.
He was a Baptist and was a member of McCoy’s Hunting Club, King Fisherman Club, Money Waster’s and Krewe of Mer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Annie and Percy January, as well as his stepfather Edmond Barks.
Mr. January is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mrs. Gardest Sewell January; four sons and two daughters; godchildren; grandchildren and one loving sister, Shirley Hicks of Toledo, Ore.
