SELMA — Services for James Henderson, 101, of Washington, who died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at Renaissance Rehabilation Center in Chicago, Ill., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow at Winston Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Henderson was born April 10, 1906, in Adams County, the son of Maggie and Martin Henderson.
He was educated at Old Washington School and had been employed by Holsum Bakery, Natchez Canal Sawmill and Home of the Benoist until the age of 95. He was a deacon at St. Mary Baptist Church, former Mason and a member of Deason Progressive Club.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two daughters, nine siblings, one son, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law.
Survivors include one son, James Henderson Jr. of Chicago; one daughter, Rosie Lee Hubbard of Chicago; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Henderson; one sister, Gladys Thomas of Natchez; five sisters-in-law, Bertha Henderson of Minnesota, Emma Vinson and husband, Jessie, both of Memphis, Sylvia Washington and husband, Ceasar, Thelma Ransom and husband, Ordley and Katie Thomas, all of Natchez; one brother-in-law, George Gooseberry and wife, Helen, both of Alaska; five god children, Katrenia McNeal, Grace Minor, Thelma Ford, Gladys Hargrave and Sharon Hunt; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
