FERRIDAY — Services for Archie Clifton Colvin, 85, of Ferriday, who died Feb. 8, 2008, at Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Colvin was born June 2, 1922, in Dubach, La., the son of Josef and Lillian Colvin. He was a Ferriday resident and the district manager for LP&L until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist in Ferriday where he served for many years as deacon, treasurer and superintendent of Sunday School. He also taught Sunday School. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Minnie Pearl Colvin; parents; one brother, Jerome Colvin; and son-in-law, Hubert Lee McGlothin.
Survivors include his wife; Edith Champlin Colvin of Ferriday, three daughters; Sharon Colvin Smith and husband, Frank, of Zachary, Sandra Colvin McGlothin, of Ferriday, Dr. Vicky Colvin Hall, and husband, Carlton, of Shreveport; one step-daughter, Freda, and husband, Billy Vinson of Ferriday; three step-sons, Tommy, and wife Bonnie Champlin of Jonesville, Benny, and wife Ann Champlin, of Jonesville, and Ronnie, and wife Jackie Champlin of Baton Rouge; brothers, Marvin Colvin of Eldorado, Ark., Glenn Colvin of Moss Point, Dan Colvin of Pineville, La.; and sisters Marie Carr of Alexandria, Mable Davis of Shreveport and Sarah Overstreet of Ruston, La.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dallas Beatty, Warren Enterkin, Bill Colvin, Robert Dodd, Alvin Doughty and Butch Hose.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Adams, Jack Lawless and Bill Beasly.
