NATCHEZ – Services for Alfred “A.J.” “Whit” Whittley, 72, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Whittley was born July 18, 1935, in Cannonsburg, the son of Henrietta Martin. He was retired from Mississippi Valley Gas Company as a service technician.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two sisters, Sarah Griffin and Alice Tyler; and one brother, John Dyer.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Whittley; five children, Sharon Miller, Cynthia Walker, Anthony Whittley, Lavell Whittley and Alfreda Whittley; three sisters, Rosa Lee Betts, Mary L. Fitzgerald and Willie Mae Minor; four brothers, John H. Martin, Paris Martin, Moses Dyer and Elijah Dyer; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cal Walker and Tri-stone Lodge No. 137.
