NATCHEZ – Services for Mavis S. Bruner, beloved mother, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in McKinney, Texas , will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Steve Bullion officiating.
Graveside prayer service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Smith, followed by burial at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery, in Franklin County, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation for close friends and family will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Ms. Bruner was born May 22, 1927, in McCall Creek, the daughter of Nicholas S. Smith and Mattie Strait Smith. She was a long time Natchez resident. In recent years, she has lived in Allen, Texas. Before retiring, Ms. Bruner was a fashion advisor and wardrobe designer in Dallas. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include three children, Patricia Anderson, Rick Weaver and Deborah Hall; five grandchildren, Terry MacDonald, Cynthia Coker, Jason Weaver, Brittani Hall and Claire Jordan Hall, all of the Dallas area; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Flavius Smith and wife, Pauline.
Pallbearers will be Rick Weaver, Tom Hall, Jim Bucheau, Spenser Smith and Russell Butts.
