FERRIDAY – Services for Leon Butler Wyles Sr., 83, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Hershel Clanton and Donald Money officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakley Cemetery, in Gilbert, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Wyles was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Extension, La., the son of Alvie and Amanda H. Wyles. Mr. Wyles was a resident of Ferriday for 57 years and worked in construction for T.L. James for 25 years. He later owned and operated convenient stores in Ferriday and Clayton. He loved to run his beagles, of which, he was a breeder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve J. Wyles; one son, Glen Allen Wyles; one daughter, Delores Wyles; and two brothers, B.D. Wyles and Herman Lee Wyles Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Leon B. Wyles Jr. of Vidalia and David C. Wyles of Denham Springs, La.; four daughters, Janice McManus of Mandeville, La., Gwen Ensminger of McNeil, Ark., Mae Blaney of Clayton and Ann Ostrom of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mary Belle Gardner of Freeport, Texas; 22 grandchildren, Debra F. Blackwell, Jerry Lynn “Jay” McManus, Lyn Ensminger, Shannon Anderson, Robin Hemba, Jeffrey Ensminger, Nicki Vines, Honey Douglas, Hester Rainey, Jessica Blanchard, Trey Wyles, Bubba Wyles, Stephen Wyles, Rachel Sullivan, Jessica Hornsby, Virginia “Jenny” Wyles, Olivia Wyles, Glen Donald Wyles, Lee Allen Wyles, Greg Ostrom, Brennan Ostrom and Michael Ostrom.
Pallbearers will be Trey Wyles, Bubba Wyles, Stephen Wyles, Jay McManus, Lyn Ensminger, Jeff Ensminger, Lee Allen Wyles and Gregory Ostrom.
