FAYETTE — Services for Elbert Ford Sr., 75, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Patient’s Choice Medical Center in Port Gibson, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Kaho officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Israel Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Ford was born March 20, 1934, in Fayette, the son of David Ford and Joycee Taylor Ford. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Ann Williams on May 28, 1955, and to this union eight children were born.
Mr. Ford confessed Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized December 2005, by the Rev. Leon Howard and became a member of Mount Israel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cassandra R. Ford; his parents; two brothers, Ereb Ford and Henry Ford; and three sisters, Rena Mae Ford Felton, Ollie Mae Ford and Eve Ford Smith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Ford; six daughters, Miracle Chantel Ford, Mary Kaho and husband, the Rev. Ronald Kaho, Georgia Ford and Shunda Stampley, all of Fayette, Elizabeth Jones and husband, Gerald, of Natchez and Thelma McGlory of Houston, Texas; four sons, Charles J. Ford, Elbert Ford and wife, Earlene, and Nehemiah Ford, all of Fayette and Percy Ford and wife, Shirley, of Greenville; three sisters, Mollie Stewart and Dorothy McNeal, both of Los Angeles and Mary Louise Ford and husband, Charles, of Harvey, La.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two godchildren, Cretta January Walker and Angel Sewell; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; a special niece, Winnie Smith Patterson of Gretna, La.; a special nephew, the Rev. Columbus Felton of Port Gibson; a special brother-in-law, Will I. Rankin; and the Washington family.
