NATCHEZ – Services for Nancy James, 69, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday, both at the church.
Mrs. James was born Nov. 14, 1940, the daughter of Cleveland Moore Sr. and Mattie Ware Singleton. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Antioch Baptist Church under the auspices of the late Rev. R.J. Johnson. She was very faithful in the church. She served as treasurer of the Sunday School, was a member of the choir, Mission Society and chairman of the food committee.
She retired after 36 years of service from Natchez Regional Medical Center as a linen technician.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Rice-Davis and husband, Terence, of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Clarence Briggs and wife, Shinita, of Dallas and Ronnie Rice and wife, Stella, of Natchez; her father and wife, Katie Ruth, of Natchez; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leon Singleton and wife, Freddie, and Cleveland Moore Jr. and wife, LaDonna, all of Natchez; seven sisters, Estelle Sweazy, Marie Bass, Gloria James and husband, Robert, Clara Lee Byrd and husband, Ernest, Elaine Singleton, Geneva Jones and Margaret Moore, all of Natchez; two godchildren, Roderick Williams and Casharia Thornburg, both of Natchez; a devoted and loving friend, Mary Lee Williams; nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brian Byrd, Clarence Hutchins Jr., Jessie Turner, Walter Calvit, Marion Pollard and Freddie Woods.
