FERRIDAY – Services for Morris Ray Arthur, 56, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at his residence with his family by his side, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Varnado officiating and Al Ater delivering the eulogy.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Arthur was born Dec. 24, 1953, in Ferriday, the son of Hugh Arthur and Margaret Arthur. He was a lifelong resident of Ferriday, a farmer and a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Arthur will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and fun loving man. He was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a man of character, honor and respect. He loved his family unconditionally and was especially proud of his granddaughter, Anna Bett, who gave him great pleasure since her birth. Mr. Ray will be remembered as a hardworking man and friend that you could count on.
Mr. Arthur was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Pam Arthur; two sons, Brannon Arthur and wife, Kristy, of Vidalia and Barrett Arthur and Whitney Bradford, both of Ferriday; one granddaughter, Anna Bett; his mother of Ferriday; and two brothers, Hugh Arthur and wife, Kay, of Bastrop, La., and Bobby Arthur and wife, Jennie, of Ferriday.
Pallbearers will be James Cowan, Jerry Johns, Randy Ward, Terry Guillory, Wayne Wilson, Perry Corbett, Bert Taunton and Brian Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Red Gum Planting Company, Ronnie Gregg, Huey Moak, Jim Iverstine, O.J. Oliveaux, Winnfield Ward, Trey Corbett, Noah Wilson and all his friends at Scott Tractor, Ferriday Farm and Three Rivers Co-op.
