Teenager dies in Jonesville vehicle accident

JONESVILLE — A teenager from Jonesville was killed Thursday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana 923.
Weston C. Brown, 15, was the passenger in a 2007 Dodge pickup that drove off the road at approximately 4 p.m. He was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 17-year-old male was driving the truck, headed south at an apparent high-rate of speed, according to a Louisiana State Police report. The driver passed two other vehicles, and as it re-entered the southbound lane the driver lost control and exited the left side of the roadway.
The vehicle entered a ditch and collided with a culvert before overturning.
The driver was not wearing his seat belt and received minor injuries. He was transported to LaSalle General.
Brown was a student at Sandy Lake Christian Academy in Jonesville. He was the son of Rhonda and Wesley Brown.
He is also survived by two sisters, Kelsey and Ashley Brown.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
