WOODVILLE — Services for Paulette Faye “Polly” Smith, 65, who died Monday, April 23, 2012, after a long battle with cancer, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Newman Funeral Home in Woodville.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 24, 1946, in Norfolk, Va., the daughter of Shelburn B. Winfree and Virginia W. Winfree.

She was a registered nurse in the cardiac unit at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson for six years.

Her love for animals was displayed through her award winning Pomeranians which she bred and showed.

She was strong, determined, unselfish and trustworthy.

Ms. Polly was preceded in death by her parents and former husband, Jim Turner.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, John Hiram Smith; one son, Kevin Turner; one brother, Karl Winfree, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; stepmother, Barbara Winfree of Chesapeake, Va.; stepson, Raymond Smith and wife, Laura, of Ridgeland; two grandchildren, Carter and Kristin Smith; and her in-laws, Sam and Inez Smith, Billy Joe Jones and Kaye Smith, all of Woodville.

Pallbearers will be James Smith, Ernest Smith, Wynn Smith, Ricky Jones, Mark Cavin, C.M. Smith and Gary Crum.

Honorary pallbearer will be Byrom Day.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
