WINNSBORO — Graveside services for Billy Ray Hansford, 67, of Vidalia, who died Friday, April 27, 2012, at Riverland Medical Center after an extended illness, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Winnsboro with the Rev. Troy Terrell officiating. The funeral procession with eighteen wheeler caravan will leave Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday at 10:15 Monday morning.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Hansford was born Nov. 29, 1944 in Winnsboro, the son of Homer Jakes and Maureen Bridges Hansford. He was a resident of Vidalia, a member of the Baptist Faith and served in the U. S. Armed Forces. He was known on the highway CB radio waves as “ The Bear,” and made countless friends along all the highways of the United States in his forty years as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Glenda Dell Hansford Epperson and Mary Louise Hansford Morehead, and his precious little great-niece, Brittney Angelica “Angel” Martinez.
Survivors include two sisters, Judy Hansford Polk and husband, James of Mansfield, and Dianne Hansford Wyles of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Nephews will be honored to serve as pallbearers.
