Mathis, Gray re-elected; Smith, Dillard move on to general election

NATCHEZ — Incumbents won out Tuesday night, winning outright in Ward 1 and 2 and moving on to face a Republican contender in Ward 6.

In Ward 1, Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis defeated challenger Kathy Traina with 60.8 percent of the vote.

In Ward 2, James “Rickey” Gray defeated challenger Billie Joe Frazier with 65.1 percent of the vote.

In Ward 3, Sarah Carter Smith won, beating Gwen Ball with 63.3 percent of the vote. Smith will now face incumbent Bob Pollard in the June 5 election.

In Ward 6, Incumbent Dan Dillard defeated Dianne Brown with 53 percent of the vote. Dillard will move on to face Forrest Foster in the June 5 General Election.
