Results not affected by absentees

NATCHEZ — With just 297 absentee ballots cast in the city’s Democratic primary election, Wednesday’s final count of absentees did not impact the final election results.
Mayoral candidate Larry L. “Butch” Brown received 45 percent of the votes with 2,183 votes. Phillip West received 39 percent of the votes with 1,884 votes.
The men were separated by 299 votes and will face-off in a runoff election May 15.
Incumbent Jake Middleton received 15 percent of the vote with 742 votes.
Final election results for the other contested races are as follows:
Ward 1 Alderman
•Joyce Arceneaux Mathis: 60.2 percent, 460 votes
•Kathy Traina: 39.8 percent, 304 votes
Ward 2 Alderman
•Billie Joe Frazier: 30.2 percent, 235 votes
•James “Rickey” Gray: 69.8 percent, 544 votes
Ward 3 Alderman
•Gwen Ball: 37.8 percent, 418 votes
•Sarah Carter Smith: 62.2 percent, 687 votes
Ward 6 Alderman
•Dianne P. Brown: 47 percent, 371 votes
•Dan Dillard: 53 percent, 417 votes
City Clerk
•Temple Hendricks: 29.8 percent, 1,385 votes
•Donnie Holloway: 70.2 percent, 3,259
The winner of the May 15 mayoral runoff will face Republican candidate Bob Buie and independent candidate Bill Furlow in the June 5 election.
Smith will challenge Republican incumbent Bob Pollard in the general election. Dillard will face independent Forrest Foster.
