NATCHEZ — Funeral Mass for Rose Marie Shields Kim, 77, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. today at Assumption Catholic Church with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Kim was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Imperial City of Hue, Vietnam. She lived her adult life in the southern provinces of Vietnam in Que Nhon where her children were born. She moved to the United States in 1968, and lived in Grenada.
Mrs. Kim retired in 1992, after 19 years of service from Bryan Foods in West Point. Mrs. Kim is known for her phenomenal cooking and sharing and teaching her friends to prepare the intriguing dishes of her homeland. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include one daughter, Rose Shields Borum and husband, Dr. Tom Borum, of Natchez; one son, Gene Phillips Shields and wife, Angie, of Endville; and six grandchildren, Dylan and Drew Shields of Endville, Branson, Kealy, Kameron and Zane Shields, all of Hamilton.
Pallbearers will be Parnell Burns, Peter Burns Jr., Charles Jennings Jr., Christopher Couie, Lynwood Easterling and Nathan Calhoun Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will Dr. Chuck Borum and Owen Hornstein.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Adams County Nursing Home and to Gloria Hayes, CNA.
