NATCHEZ — Nolan Clyde Cavin, better known as “Mr. Clyde,” 84, of Natchez, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ronnie Cosby officiating.
Burial will follow at noon at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the funeral home.
Mr. Cavin was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Wilkinson County, the son of Leon Claude Cavin and Evelyn Netterville Cavin. He was employed by John G. Gardner for 35 years as a salesman and later became manager of the Natchez Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. He was well known in the Beverly Plantation area as a cattle rancher and hay farmer. He was also a member of the 61 South Church of Christ and served as treasurer and trustee of the church.
Mr. Cavin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claude Cavin and Wallace “Ned” Cavin.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Frost Cavin; two children, Lynn Cavin Baragona and husband, Tommy, of Corinth and Clyde Nolan Cavin and wife, Elizabeth Ann McNees Cavin, of Natchez; one brother, John L. Cavin of Woodville; one sister, Ollie Cavin Phipps of Crosby; five grandchildren, Michelle Baragona Sparks and husband, Owen, of Tupelo, Scott Baragona and wife, Sara Rutledge Baragona, of Huntsville, Ala., Landon Cavin, Ruston Cavin and wife, Stephanie Wilson Cavin, and Kalyn Cavin and fiancé, Jordan McElroy, all of Natchez; three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary Baragona of Huntsville and Catcher Cavin of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
