FERRIDAY — Services for Betty Ilene Loomis, 90, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at her home, will be at 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louis Sklar, the Rev. Elbert Sanson and the Rev. Don Tate officiating.
Burial will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Loomis was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Hanesville, Ohio. She resided on the family farm in Possum Bayou, west of Clayton. She was a retired cafeteria manager of 32 years and was a member of Clayton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Loomis was preceded in death by her husband, Gorge Almond Loomis Sr.; her father, William Pete Blocker; her mother, Jeanette Blocker; one granddaughter, Patricia Beth Corkern; one great-granddaughter, Macy Loomis; four sisters, Adelaide Walden, Leona Bobo, and Alice Smith and Jeanette Ball.
Survivors include three sons, George A. Loomis Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Ferriday, Billy H. Loomis and wife, Lisa, of Camp, Ark. and Richard A. Loomis and Nancy, of Erwinville, La.; three daughters, Judy F. Corkern and husband, Alfred, of Ferriday, Linda D. Mullins and husband, Mike, Boerne, Texas, and Jenny Blunschi and husband, Woodie, of Ferriday; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family would like to thank Dane Paul, Tensas Home Health, and Camelia Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to our mother. Also, special thanks to two angels, Annie King and Sheila Christianson, for their love and devotion that they showed to our mother.
