Let’s keep rolling on the river

A two-hour tour through Adams County’s industrial sites right now includes multiple stops but one main focus — the river.
The new Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Brent Christenson got the complete tour late last week, when he stopped by on his much larger tour of Mississippi.
Natchez Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ pointed out the Natchez sites, including that big one that sets us apart.
Russ has taken to telling us all lately something we already knew — the Mississippi River is our most valuable resource.
When it comes to recruiting industry, Natchez can stand apart from others because of its location on the river.
But our riverfront property is so enticing to those hoping to ship goods in and out via river barge that available, easy-to-develop riverfront land is nearly gone.
We know Russ is already thinking about finding more industrial land on the river, but others in the area will soon need to join in if Adams County hopes to stay competitive in attracting industry. We need more available riverfront property.
Hopefully, Christenson enjoyed his tour and got a great view of what makes Natchez special. We hope he’ll remember us when the next industry comes knocking on the state’s door.
