The City of Vidalia is hosting a one-stop shop for those hoping to improve at least one aspect of their lives in some way.

The third annual Miss-Lou housing fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday will give those who are currently renting a chance to collect free information about what it means to become a homeowner.

At the same time, those who already own a house can learn more about their mortgage or refinancing options.

And those in need of any type of affordable housing can hear ideas from private business and the federal government that might put them on the road to a home.

Area residents should take advantage of this opportunity and see what’s going on at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center Saturday.

It’s good to see the city partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make such an event possible for the community.

Misinformation and a lack of information in some ways led our country to a housing crisis not too long ago.

Sharing the facts and encouraging residents to fully think through their options can prevent a repeat disaster.
