NATCHEZ — Services for Charles Earl Wilson, 78, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Vidalia, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McNeely Road Church of God with the Rev. Julius Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday, both at the church.
Mr. Wilson was born April 5, 1934, in Neshoba County, the son of Charles Andy Wilson and Ida Mytilda Wilson. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a master’s degree plus 30 and retired after 48 years of service as a teacher and principal.
Charles designed and supervised the construction of Ridgecrest Elementary School. He was a principal at Clayton Elementary, Ridgecrest Elementary, Brownsfield Baptist Academy and assistant principal at Huntington High School.
Charles loved taking care of his family and playing with his granddaughter who called him “Chucky.”
Mr. Wilson was a member of McNeely Road Church of God in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Woodrow Wilson and Monroe Wilson; two sisters, Dee Webb and Ruth Morrow; and an infant sister, Madeline Wilson.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Diane Wilson; one daughter, Charlene Smith and husband, Brad, of Vidalia; and one granddaughter, Karlee Smith, the “light of his life.”
Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Greg Brown, DeWayne Webb, Nathaniel Webb, Wally Wallace and Gary Parnham.
