NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Bess Mitchell Marron, 96, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Columns Nursing Home in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Tomlinson officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Mrs. Marron was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Plaquemine, La., the daughter of Dr. Sam Kaufman Mitchell and Bessie Dill Mitchell. She was a retired executive secretary for Texas Pacific Oil Company in Dallas.

Mrs. Marron was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Alman “Bud” Marron; her parents; one daughter-in-law, Dr. Jo Cross Pierce; and one granddaughter, Marisa Hughey.

Survivors include one son, Sam Pierce and wife, Jerri, of Ferriday; three grandsons, Tim Pierce of Tennessee, Patrick Pierce and wife, Robin, of Monroe, La., and Meigs Myer of Ferriday; three granddaughters, Katie McCarty and husband, Marc, of Wisner, La., Margaret Pierce of Baton Rouge and Lisa Willard of Ferriday; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Adron Walker, David Roundtree, Drew McCarty, J.L. Barker, Marc McCarty and Pat Pierce.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Kunkle and Percy Roundtree.

The family would like to thank the staff of Columns Nursing Home and the staff of Hospice Compassus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Concordia Parish Library.
