NATCHEZ — Services for Leona Kathleen “Kathy” Hude, 65, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Hude was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Natchez, the daughter of Harry C. Dawes III and Leona Chesney Kaiser Dawes. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Parish and a graduate of Cathedral High School.

She received an associate degree in secretarial science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was employed by George Poole Oil Company, Corr Williams Tobacco Company and Biglane Operating Company. The vocation of which she was most proud was that of being mother and grandmother to her beautiful children and grandchildren.

Kathy was devout in her faith and was loyal and steadfast to those she counted as her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Lloyd Andrew Kaiser and Frances Evelyn Blankenstein Kaiser; paternal grandparents, Harry C. Dawes Jr. and Kathleen Rosamond Hermann Dawes; and one brother, Harry Leighton Dawes.

Survivors include her loving caregiver and father of her children, George Edward Hude Sr.; four sons, George Edward Hude Jr. and wife, Kimberly, of Wellington, Fla., Christopher Dawes Hude and wife, Sandy, of Carver, Minn., Jon Justin Hude of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and David Andrew Hude and wife, Jessica, of Natchez; one daughter, Leona Kathleen Hude Gibson and husband, Reeve, of Natchez; one brother, Paul Lloyd Dawes and wife, Mary Elizabeth, of Natchez; one sister, Elise Evelyn Dawes McKinley and husband, Blair, of Starkville; five grandchildren, Sarah Meshel Hude, Travis Dawes Hude, Adrianna Paige Hude, Abigail Katherine Hude and Zoie Kellen Gibson; three nieces, Pamela Elise Dawes Eddy, Frances Chesney McKinley Severence and Anna Arline McKinley George; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Reeve Gibson, Andy Kaiser, Clayton Gibson, Blair McKinley, Paul McKinley and Joseph Brumfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Hude and Rawdon Blankenstein.

Family and friends are invited to the repast at St. Theresa Hall after the graveside service.
