VIDALIA — Concordia Parish Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington declared Concordia Parish to be in a state of emergency effective 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The declaration was made in anticipation of the landfall of Hurricane Isaac, which is expected to impact the Miss-Lou with tropical storm-force winds and wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour.

Ferrington said he made the declaration after meeting with the parish emergency preparedness director, Morris White.

The Adams County Board of Supervisors issued a similar declaration Monday, as did Natchez Mayor Butch Brown.
