WOODVILLE — Services for Jonas W. Ross, 81, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Woodville, who died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2012, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Port Hudson in East Baton Rouge Parish, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Rest Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Ross was born July 8, 1931, in Woodville, the son of Howard and Mary Elizabeth Ward Ross. He was a retired educator at Southern University in Baton Rouge and was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Hunter Ross; two sons, Felton Ross and Herman Ross Sr. and wife, Deborah, all of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Brenda Green, Sharon Ross and Paula R. Baldwin and husband, Reginald, all of Atlanta, and Janice Ross of Baton Rouge; five brothers, David Ross, Grover Ross, Melvin Ross, Fred Ross and Orville Ross; two sisters, Lela E. Wright and Vivian Pate, all of Chicago; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
