VIDALIA — Services for Orma Jean James, 70, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.
Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ms. James was born June 26, 1942, in Vidalia, the daughter of Dan and Margie Chatman White. She was retired from Vidalia City Hall.
She was a member of the Concordia Garden Club, Neighborhood Crime Stoppers and was an usher and recording secretary at Zion Baptist Church.
Ms. James was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharon White; three brothers, Dan Jr., James Henry and Willie White; and two sisters, Dorothy White and Irene White.
Survivors include one daughter, Deidra James and husband, Ricardo, of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Elbert White of Vidalia and Leonard White and wife, Virgie, of Lancaster, Calif.; two sisters, Deidra W. White and husband, Rickie, and Cora Dixon, all of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Olivette and Gerry White, both of Omaha; four great-grandchildren; and one uncle, Edward Curtis of Vidalia.
