NATCHEZ — Natchez residents whose water has been a bit mucky the last couple of days should see it clear up by Monday or Tuesday.
City Engineer David Gardner said residents experienced yellow or brown water over the weekend because scaling from a well that was recently worked on mixed in with the water once the well was turned back on.
Gardner said the water is perfectly safe to drink and poses no health hazard, despite the discoloration.
Natchez Water Works began receiving complaints about discolored water Saturday, Gardner said. He said Water Works determined the well was the source of the discoloration and shut it off.
The discoloration should work its way out of the system in the next couple of days, Gardner said, and the well will be flushed to prevent future discoloration.
