Ferriday unable to hold halftime lead, falls 22-16

JONESBORO, La. — The Ferriday Trojans were unable to maintain a lead at halftime as the Jonesboro-Hodge Tigers rallied for a 22-16 win in the LHSAA District 2-2A opener for both teams Friday night.
Jonesboro-Hodge (2-5, 1-0) took a 6-0 lead before Ferriday took the lead on a touchdown and two-point conversion with just over four minutes to go until halftime. The Trojans led 8-6 at the half.
Unfortunately for Ferriday, the Trojans’ offense failed to get anything going until it was too late. The Tigers scored 16 points in the third quarter to take a 22-8 lead. Ferriday scored a late touchdown and two-point conversion to make it a one-possession game at 22-16, but they were unable to get the ball back.
Ferriday (1-5, 0-1) will be at home next Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Homer.
