FERRIDAY — Services for Betty Zane McConnell, 80, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Larry Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery near Newellton, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. McConnell was born April 20, 1932, in Jackson Parish, La., the daughter of Marshall Eugene Chappell and Thula Tullos Chappell. She was a homemaker and a member of Ferriday First Baptist Church.

Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McConnell and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennie Arthur and husband, Bobby, and Debra Moak and husband, Lowrey, all of Ferriday; one son, Hugh McConnell and wife, Kelly, of Stonewall, La.; one brother, Norman Chappell of Minden, La.; three sisters, Sybil Magee of Houma, La., Wanda Swilley of Pass Christian and Jimmie McPherson of West Monroe, La.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ples Arthur, Will Moak, Josh Johns, Josh Foster, Stewart Kite and Lamar Walters.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Huey Moak.

The family extends special thanks for the love and care given to their mother by Kathryn Crews, Nora Nitz, Betty Stewart, the staff at Colvin’s Pharmacy and Camilla Hospice.
