JONESVILLE — The Ferriday Trojans scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown with 11 seconds left in the third quarter as they defeated the Block Bears 12-8 Friday night.
“We could’ve played better. There’s still some things we need to work on,” Ferriday head coach Cleothis Cummings III said. “The first half was mediocre. We scored on our first drive. Block’s defense kept us out of the end zone after the first drive.”
That was until the waning seconds of the third quarter, when Ferriday took the lead for good. And the Trojans’ defense did its part to keep it a close game after Block took an 8-6 lead early in the second quarter.
“The defense did a tremendous job. Our defensive coaches did a good job,” Cummings said. “We’ll just continue to work and try to get the offense clicking.”
Ferriday (1-1) won’t have to travel far for its next game as the Trojans visit Concordia Parish rival Vidalia next Friday at 7 p.m.

DELHI, La. — Just when it looked like the Vidalia Vikings were on the verge of being handed their first loss of the season, they fought back and outscored Delhi Charter 22-7 in the fourth quarter to stun the Gators Friday night.
Vidalia won the game with just six seconds left on a 15-yard pass on fourth and goal from the Delhi Charter 15-yard line. The Vikings converted on the two-point conversion to take the lead.
The Vikings (2-0) play host to rival Ferriday at 7 p.m. next Friday.
