NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Ruth LaVonne Floyd, 71, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Tate officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Ms. Floyd was born June 2, 1942, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Jake Floyd Sr. and Mary Katherine Sturdivant Floyd. She was a member of the Vidalia Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jake Floyd Jr.

Survivors include three sisters, Nelma Hazlip of Natchez, Joyce Papillion and husband, Sherwin, of Houston, and Gloria Rymer and husband, James, of Natchez; seven nephews; five nieces; a number of great nieces and great nephews; and a special friend and caretaker, Susie Wheat. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Leland Rymer, Lionel Rymer, Jake Floyd III, Dwight Hazlip, Mike Hazlip and Randy Hazlip.
