FERRIDAY — Services for Betty Montpelier Harrington, 98, of Clayton, who died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Riverland Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Sharp Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harrington was born March 1, 1916, in Taylor, Texas, the daughter of Perry E. and Emma Ida Montpelier.

She retired from the U.S. Postal service in Clayton. She was a member of Clayton Methodist Church, a dedicated Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and word puzzles.

Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Lee Harrington; one son, Lawrence E. Harrington; one daughter, Carolyn H. Rush; three grandsons, Claude Rush, Mike Weems and James Robert Keene; one granddaughter, Aimee Howington Clark; one sister, Thelma; and two son-in-laws, Bobby Rush and Lamar Stringer.

Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Fortunato and husband, Joe, of Natchez and Mary Howington and husband, Gerry, of Pineville, La.; four grandsons, Brian Rush and wife, Rachel, of Clayton, Jason Stringer of Dallas, Damon Stringer of Louisville, Ky. and Adam Howington of Ruston, La.; six granddaughters, Melissa Adams and husband, Charles and Kim Golmon and husband, James, all of Vidalia, Tammy Stevens and husband, Darrel, of Morgan City, La., Melanie Lucas and husband, Doug, of Ball, La., Loretta Newman and husband, Allen, of Natchez and Jennie Wright of Alexandria, La.; one daughter-in-law, Nell Harrington of Crowville, La.; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Jason Stringer, Damon Stringer, Adam Howington, Jeffery Puckett, Jim Golmon, Troy Rush, Kalin Howington, Brian Rush Jr. and Joshua Rush.
