ST. JOSEPH, La. — Services for Cleora Turner Barden, 89, of Waterproof, who died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at Canon Hospice in Jefferson, La., will be at noon Saturday at Springhill Baptist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Samuel Guice officiating.
Burial will follow at the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Barden was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Barden; her parents, Jimmy and Nicey Turner; five children, Roosevelt Bottley, Theodore Bottley, McKensy Turner, Orlean Washington and Cleandrew Barden; two grandsons; one great-grandson; eight sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include three children, Edward James Turner and wife, Songy, Freddie Barden and wife, Trenice, all of Merrero, La., and Cherrie Barden Ambrose of New Orleans; one daughter-in-law, Emma Bottley of Waterproof; two grandchildren she raised, Nelita Atkins and Reginald Allen; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and a very special friend, Emma Brown of Waterproof.
