NATCHEZ — The City of Natchez is again seeking to help homeowners in need.
In partnership with Concordia Bank & Trust, the city is accepting applications for the Special Needs Assistance Program (SNAP), which begins Aug. 3.
SNAP, sponsored by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, helps special needs households make health and safety repairs to homes at no cost to the homeowner.
Examples of home repairs include roof repairs, electrical and plumping repairs, replacing faulty flame heaters, among others.
For a homeowner to be eligible for participation, they must be the primary resident of the home and live within Natchez city limits.
Households must also have a family income of 80 percent or less of the median income for Natchez to be eligible.
“This is the fifth time the city has partnered with local member banks to participate in the SNAP program to assist needy families in the city,” said Community Development Director James Johnston. “We hope to continue this partnership as long as the Federal Home Loan Bank sponsors the program.”
SNAP applications can be picked up at the Department of Planning and Community Development, 124 S. Pearl St.
Submitted applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. Approximately 10 applications will be submitted for funding consideration.
