FERRIDAY — Services for Barbara Finlay Manning, 87, of Waterproof, La., who died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez-Community Campus, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating.

A private burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Manning was born July 13, 1928, in Harrisonburg, La., the daughter of Charles Cicero Finlay and Myrtle Williams Finlay.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ferriday where she served as choir director.

Mrs. Manning was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her family and a number of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Shelton S. Manning.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Robert W. Manning Jr.; one daughter, Jan Sample of Shreveport, La.; one son, Robert Manning III and wife, CeCe, of Ferriday; four grandsons, William Manning and wife, Mary, of Waterproof, Knighton Sample and wife, Alice, and Grey Sample, all of Shreveport, and Paul Manning and wife, Kristen, of Ferriday; one brother, Col. Charles C. Finlay and wife, Joy, of San Diego, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Grace Manning of Dallas; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and Tom Milliken.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Barbara’s favorite charities, St, Jude’s’ Hospital, First Presbyterian Church in Ferriday or to a charity of choice.
