NATCHEZ — Services for Wanda Lynette Minor, 50, of Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died Sunday, Sept., 20, 2015, in Mesquite, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.L. Hammittee officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, followed by visitation.
Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Miss Minor was born July 24, 1965, in Adams County, the daughter of Willie E. Minor Sr. and Eula B. Gilchrist Minor.
She was a 1983 graduate of North Natchez High School and a 1988 graduate of Jackson State University with a degree in business administration. She was employed by Frito-Lay in the bookkeeping department.
Wanda served as a choir member at Antioch Baptist Church in Natchez and at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Dallas. Her hobbies included singing, baking and decorating.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the Rev. Ernest Minor, Nancy B. Minor and Gertrude Gilchrist; one brother, Mark A. Minor; two aunts, Leanna Gilchrist Ball and Patricia January Childress; and one uncle, James Gilchrist.
Survivors include her parents; one brother, Willie E. Minor Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Miami; one sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Minor of Natchez; grandfather, Alfred Gilchrist Sr. of Compton, Calif.; five aunts, Josie G. Camper, the Rev. Irma J. Jackson and husband, the Rev. Melvin Jackson, Clentine January, Penny R. January and Bridgette C. Gilchrist; three uncles, Alfred Gilchrist and wife, Shelia, Calvin January and wife, Nancy, and Francis Minor and wife, Virginia; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
