VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested this week in connection with the fatal shooting of three horses in June 2014.
Smokie Joe Wilson, 22, 4208 Vidalia Meadows, Vidalia, was arrested Monday on charges of three counts aggravated cruelty to animals, three counts discharge of a firearm from a public road and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Vernon Stevens said the arrest was connected with the shooting of horses on Louisiana 3196 first reported June 25, 2014.
The owner of the horses found two of them already dead, while the third had to be euthanized.
The CPSO had previously offered a reward for information, and Stevens said investigators were able to gather information from an informant.
Wilson was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile because several people were in the vehicle with him when he allegedly fired the weapon at the horses, including one person who was younger than 17.
Wilson was detained at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office without bond Wednesday morning.
