BERRYVILLE, Ark. — Services for Betty Jo Newman Green, 61, of Berryville, Ark., who died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, in Rogers, Ark., will be 10 a.m. Monday at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville, Ark., with the Rev. Jewel Vance officiating.
Burial will follow at the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel in Berryville.
Mrs. Green was born Dec. 4, 1954, in Natchez, the daughter of Amos and Clara Eugenia Palmer Newman.
Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Berryville. She was actively involved with the Berryville Band Booster and the Bobcat Athletic Booster Club. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader for a number of years.
Betty loved music, singing, fishing and hunting. She had a huge heart for helping others and spent a lot of time fundraising for charities. She loved cooking for family and for the charities with which she worked. She especially enjoyed watching her daughter and granddaughter compete in beauty pageants.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary Lou Manley and Peggy Myers; one brother-in-law, Richard J. Green; one sister-in-law, Annette Green; and one niece, Shannon Jamison.
On June 8, 1979, Betty was united in marriage to Ricky L. Green Sr., who survives her.
Other survivors include three sons, Glenn Kimball and wife, Amanda, of Huntsville, Ark., Ricky Green Jr. and Ryan Green and fiancée, Katie Clark, all of Berryville; one daughter, Valarie Shimandle and husband, Tony, of Berryville; one brother, Eugene Newman and wife, Glenell of Meadville; six sisters, Ida Mae Coley and husband, William, Elizabeth Jamison and Nancy Day, all of Natchez, Marilyn Liebig and husband, Greg, of Tullahoma, Tenn., Carolyn Weathersby of Riceville, Tenn., and Sandra Stevens of Manchester, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Christian, Lexy, Anthony, Austin, Ashley, Destiny, Dalton, Brandon, Lawrence, Alice, Matthew and Gabriel; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and loved ones.
