Both Port Gibson High School and Wilkinson County High School will be looking to bounce back from tough losses last Friday night when the Wildcats host the Blue Waves for homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday.

This is a key MHSAA Region 7-3A game for both teams.

Wilkinson County (5-4, 2-1) needs a win to stay right behind top-ranked Hazlehurst.

A win by Port Gibson (4-4, 1-2) could create as many as four teams at 2-2 in region play by the end of the night.

“They’ve got some good athletes. Their quarterback (D’Marious Hicks) is pretty shifty,” Wilkinson County head coach Kenneth Brown said. “We have to keep him in the pocket.”
Brown said his offense will have to take better care of the ball than it did last week in a 40-26 setback at Hazlehurst.
“We have two good receivers. Our quarterback (Ja’Quorias Stewart) is throwing the ball well. They have to cover our guys,” Brown said. “The main thing we have to be concerned with is not turning the ball over and creating some turnovers.”
