Sterlington High School outscored Ferriday High School 13-8 in the final quarter to escape with a 34-30 win Friday night.
A Ferriday penalty in the final 90 seconds wiped away a missed Panthers field goal, allowing Sterlington the opportunity to score a late go-ahead score.
“I’ve never complained about officiating, but that was a terrible call at the end of the game,” Ferriday
coach Dwight Woods said. “The penalty called had nothing to do with the missed field goal.”
Woods said quarterback Ronald Williams threw three touchdowns is the crushing defeat.
“We’re proud of our kids,” he said. “They had a few plays earlier in the game where we could have put it away, but it is what it is.”
