PORT GIBSON — Services for Gwen Boren, 84, of Port Gibson, who died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at her residence, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Port Gibson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hooks officiating.
Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Boren lived in Claiborne County most of her life. She was co-owner of Port Gibson Service Station and a garage and wrecker service for 48 years.
She was active in all phases of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church activities and the Claiborne County Nursing Home. She loved working in her flower gardens and watching the lilies bloom.
Mrs. Boren was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Boren Sr.; her parents; and her sisters, Wilma Blaylock and Doris Sumrall.
Survivors include one son, Carl Boren Jr. and wife, Linda, of Hermanville; one daughter, Wanda Boren Holder and husband, Bobby, of Natchez; two grandchildren, Jason Charles Boren of Texas and Joshua Boren Holder of Magnolia; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Purvis, Darrell Purvis, Elbert McDaniel, Charles Conn, Bill Case, Sam Lush, Doug Nasif and John Segrest.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Methodist Church in Port Gibson.
In recognition of the number of years of friendship and love, Alan Hill and many others are not listed.
