NATCHEZ — Services for William E. “Billy” Brashier, 85, of Natchez, who died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his residence, will be noon today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with deacons Jack Melton and Lee Gillespie officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Brashier was born March 31, 1932, in Eucutti, the son of William H. Brashier and Gurchia Herring Brashier.

He retired after 44 years of service as a tipple operator from Johns-Manville. Mr. Brashier was a member of Vidalia chapter of AA for 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah Alice Brashier; and one brother and sister-in law, Barney and Louise Brashier.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Brashier and wife, Rhonda, and Gene Brashier and wife, Belinda, all of Natchez; two daughters, Ann Melton and husband, Jack, of Ferriday and Nan Folse Whitten and husband, Robert, of Monroe, La.; eight grandchildren and their spouses; Mack and Kim Melton and Misty Bryant, all of Ferriday, Beth and Brad Irvin, Kit and Kelly Spears, Beau and Lindsay Brashier, all of Vidalia, Destiny and Jay Dantzler and Candace Brashier, all of Natchez, and Hayden and Terri Collins of McComb; 11 great-grandchildren, Blake and Bailey Irvin, Jake and Sudie Spears, Garrett, Jaxson and Hendrix Brashier, Sophia Bryant, Sam Briana, Noah Collins, and William and Westin Alexander; one brother, Joe Brashier and wife, Sara, of Laurel; and special friend, Marie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Beau Brashier, Mack Melton, Kelley Spears, Brad Irvin, Jay Dantzler and Blake Irvin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Spears, Steve McLatchey and James Crawford.
