A fireworks show is planned for the Lake St. John community Saturday night in conjunction with the annual Lake St. John Flotilla.

Fireworks will begin soon after dusk, organizer Gena Garrity said.

The fireworks will be shot from Newt Willis’ pier on backside of the lake. The firworks will be shot over the water in front of the  former location of The Dock, she said.

The fireworks can be viewed from piers on the lake or in a boat. Two fireworks will be shot approximately 15 minutes before the show to  allow boats to take their viewing spots on the lake, Garrity said.

Black Lake

The Black Lake community near Jonesville will also celebrate the holiday Saturday night with a fireworks show over the lake.

Fireworks are set to begin soon after dusk at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Natchez and Vidalia

Three days later the skies over the Mississippi River bridges will be filled with fireworks on  the July 4. The show will begin soon after 9 p.m., event organizer René Adams said.

The fireworks will be launched from a barge  north of the bridges and can be viewed from both sides of the river, Adams said.

The town of Vidalia will have live entertainment on the riverfront starting at 6 p.m.
