NATCHEZ — Services for Willie S. “Bill” Mobley, 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Everett Elzey and the Rev. Danny Speed officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Mobley was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Utica, the son of Willie Sanford Mobley and Mary Pickett Mobley.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1951. He retired from IC Railroad with 40 years of service. He was a member of Lovely Lane Methodist Church and a member of the United Transportation Union (UTU), American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW.) He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his vegetable garden and growing roses. He grew up in Utica and came to Natchez in 1959.

Mr. Mobley was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marcell Mobley Harper.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Coleman Mobley; one daughter, Debra Mobley of Natchez; one son, Charles Mobley and his wife, Rebecca, of Brookhaven; one granddaughter, Kacy Mobley of McComb; one sister, Edna Therell of Kociusko; two brothers, James Mobley of Pearl and Harold Mobley of Utica; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

He is also survived by his beloved poodle, Choo-Choo.

 

The family would like to thank special friends and caregivers, Marcina Bardwell, Brandy Sills, Terry Jackson and David Edwards. They would also like to send a special appreciation for Camellia Hospice and all the doctors and nurses that assisted in his care.
