WATERPROOF — Services for Arthur Louis “Coon” Smith, 66, of New Orleans, formerly of Waterproof, who died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Baptist Church in Waterproof with Christine Ford officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Smith was born July 21, 1951, in Waterproof, the son of Elijah and Hazel Douglas Smith.

He was a carpenter.

Survivors include one son, ReDarreion S. Warren of Corpus Christi, Texas; three daughters, Trellis M. Grant, Kameka D. Ellzey and Gloria S. Swanson, all of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Nathaniel Smith and Alexander Smith and wife, Gladys, all of Waterproof, and Lee Murray Smith and wife, Amanda, of New Orleans; three sisters, Annie Mae Smith and her companion, James Cephus II, of Waterproof, Loretta Turner and husband, Thomas, of Natchez, and Elizabeth S. Hilliard and husband, David, of Houston; the mother of his children, Evon Grant of Fort Worth; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
