NATCHEZ — Services for Johnny Newman, 66, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, in Natchez, will be noon Tuesday at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Samuel Malone officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Newman is a member of the Sadie V. Thompson class of 1969. He served in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Buster” Newman and Ethel Mayfield Newman; his wife, Charlie Mae Newman; and one sister, Elsia Mae Hawkins.

Survivors include, Ebony Sims of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Estelle Ellis of Natchez; one brother, Walter Newman, Jr. of Natchez; one brother-in-law, Elder Willie Joe Ellis of Natchez; three loyal and dedicated friends, Clarence McQuarters, Gregory Cosey and Moses Woods, Jr., all of Natchez; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
