NATCHEZ — Services for Roger Dale Matthew Sr., 74, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Baton Rouge General Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church Hill Methodist Church, 11740 River Road in Church Hill, with the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating.

Burial will follow at Donohue Plantation Family Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.

Mr. Matthew was born Aug. 19, 1943, in McComb, the son of Edwin George Matthew and Edna Merle Boyd Matthew.

He was a member of Church Hill Methodist Church. Mr. Matthew was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and Cooper Tire Company. He adored his family, his flowers and his animals.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Eugenia “Gene” Mardis Matthew; and one sister, Karen Matthew Reed.

Survivors include one son, Roger Dale Matthew Jr., of Prairieville, La.; one daughter, Sandy Matthew Fiser and husband, Michael Adams, of St. Francisville, La.; three granddaughters, Emma Gene Fiser, Laurel Lee Fiser, both of St. Francisville, and Elaina Caroline Matthew of Prairieville; one grandson, Zachary Allen Matthew of Prairieville; one sister, Sherri Matthew Risher of Natchez; sister-in-law, Allene Mardis Noble of St. Francisville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Matt Westmoreland, Chisum Mardis, James Ray, Trey Mardis, Russ Marks and David Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Robertson, Allen Mardis, Lee Mardis, Mike Steele, Randy Pellochino, Mark Mawhorter and Win Mardis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
