NATCHEZ — Services for Marion Allen Smith, 79, of Natchez, who died Saturday, May 26, 2018, in Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Peter B. Mills officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born Aug. 25, 1938, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Joseph V. Smith and Edna Matthews Smith.

He was a retired automotive mechanic. Mr. Smith served his country in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and also served for a number of years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a longtime member and deacon of Covington Road Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Miriam Smith; and one son, Clifford Smith.

Survivors include one daughter, Angeline McDaniel and husband, Billy, of Columbus, Ohio; one son, David Smith and wife, Lori, of Clarksburg, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Thornton, Jerry Ketteringham, Christopher McDonald, Michael McDonald, Justin McDonald and David Smith.
